ONE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED AFTER TAXI OWNERS WERE ALLEGEDLY SHOT AT IN MIDRAND![]()

PARKTOWN - One suspect has been arrested and police are searching for the others after suspects driving in a Toyota Hilux bakkie opened fire at two vehicles that were driven by taxi owners in Midrand on Tuesday, 20 August 2024 at approximately 15h30.![]()

It is reported that taxi owners were from a meeting and being escorted by security officers when their two vehicles were shot at by the suspects. A shootout ensued between the suspects and the security officers who were escorting the taxi owners.![]()

It is further reported that one of the suspects was left behind as the two others drove away. Police were alerted and responded swiftly. The suspect, who was left behind, was hunted and found with an AK-47 magazine, not far from the scene. ![]()

Two of the taxi owners and two bystanders were hit by the bullets during the shootout and sustained injuries. They were all taken to the nearest medical care centre for medical treatment. ![]()

Police have opened a case of attempted murder and are on the lookout for the suspects who are still at large. The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrate's Court in due course. ![]()

Hawkeye Security Director received information from an informant of two Nigerian Males dealing drugs in a complex in Vorna Valley. The information was followed up, and observation was kept. A buyer an indian male was identified and searched and the drugs he had just purchased was found, he then provided further information to assist. The residence was then searched by Saps, Hawkeye Security and TRT K9 Unit with permission from the suspects and nothing further was found. The suspect confessed he had flushed the drugs he had. The suspects were restrained and transported to midrand Saps for further enquiry and detention.![]()

Information was received by Midrand SAPS that a well known night club in Midrand was a hub for buying and selling of illegal narcotics.![]()
Midrand SAPS verified the information and an undercover operational plan was devised.![]()

After extensive intelligence driven investigation, the suspects were identified.![]()
An undercover operation was executed at the identified location and the suspects were found in possession of multiple illegal narcotics. The total street value of the illegal narcotics seized is estimated at R250,000.![]()

Further intelligence was gathered that one club patron was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. A successful take down was carried out and the suspect was arrested and the unlicensed firearm recovered. ![]()

The suspects were placed under arrest and their rights communicated to them. The suspects acknowledged their rights and were transported from the identified address to Midrand SAPS for further processing and detention. All the suspects were arrested and booked in free of injuries.![]()

Hawkeye Security assisted with a Theft complaint received and upon further investigation by Hawkeye Director Rajan Pillay, discovered that a minor was being sexually abused by a charlie male. ![]()
The child and mother was interviewed and escorted to Midrand SAPS to be assisted. A case was opened on the 25th July 2024. The suspect was arrested and detained on the 26th July 2024.![]()
The suspect was profiled and it was ascertained that he was released on bail a week ago for a similar offence.![]()
The minor will be receiving the necessary counseling assistance from SAPS.![]()
